Pilots Agree

I am a member of Pilots Agree, a newly formed union which is affiliated with MM&P.
At present we are on strike since 4/4/98 after companies refused to even acknowledged that we exist. I was interested in the shipping schedules so that we could pickett at the facility they are bound for in the New Orleans, Houston, Baton Rouge, Beaumont and Port Arthur ports. The ILA has honored our stike and have helped our cause very much

looking for ship arrival schedule

Hi Everyone!! Wow this is great.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Maureen Garza and I am a lady longshoreman in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was the 2nd lady to join Local 10 back in 1981. I worked out of the longshore hall for 13 years until in 1993 I went steady for Stevedoring Services of America and was a operator of their heavy equipment for 4 years. I drove most of the newer equipment including being the only women crane driver (porttainer) in SF area. I also drove Transtainer, toppicker and if I had to , the Portpacker..(I hated that). Stevedoring Services gave me a great oportunity to learn alot and I did. Just last year I transfered over to the Marine Clerks union local 34 in San Francisco...Just wanted to say I love my job, I have a lot of years to go.. (I have 17 years in now, am 36 yrs, so I'd say at least another 20 or so) ......Well, I was looking for tomorrows ship, but I couldnt find one to work...Take Care

Operational Audits of oceangoing vessels

As a student of Internal Auditing I am searching for a sample operational audit program - or even a basic operations checklist. The actual project is created around the Titantic but that really only confuses the issue. Should anyone have any suggestions about possible links to any maritime audit programs I would greatly appreciate it. You have a wonderful service!

Merchant Marine Memories

I have seached for quite awhile for some information on the business side of maritime life, other than the Brylcream boys on the cruise liners. I myself sailed for a company called Port Line, a subsidury of Cunard. We used to say in the 60's, that we made the money and the liners lost it. We were engaged on the refrigerated trade between the UK and Australia and New Zealand. I myself was a Chief Electrical Engineering Officer, and altho my service at sea wasn't for that many years< I always look back fondly on those times, and the comeraderie of those times. If anyone has any information, or photos of Port Line ships I would be very grateful to receive them. Please keep up the good work, I shall be a regular visitor to your site. Regards, J.Rix

Vessel Information and the role of insurance

A marine Insurance Broker writes :-

A very interesting and ambitious website.
I am a marine insurance broker in the London market, so would remind readers that Lloyd's of London have built up (over 300 years) a worldwide network of agents, gathering information on port arrivals and departures. Their information is available (via Lloyd's of London Press, and Lloyd's Intelligence Services) and is quite unrivalled throughout the world for speed, thoroughness and accuracy ..... The only problem is... it costs !
The Lloyd's of London website is :- http://www.lloydsoflondon.co.uk/

We at Sedgwick (having 290 offices in 70 countries around the world) are one of the world's largest marine insurance brokers, and I'd be delighted to give you more information about our marine services.
The Sedgwick website is :- http://www.sedgwick.com/

If you have any particular questions about marine insurance issues (e.g. the effect of the I.S.M. code c

Cargo ship plans

I would be very grateful if anyone with scans of deck plans of large cargo ships could get in touch. I am working on a computer game partly set on board a ship of this type and need these plans to design the layout of it.

Perhaps a section with various plans would be good on this web page, the rest is great.
